Visitor Information

Family at Hopetoun Horse TrialsEveryone is welcome at the Gillespie Macandrew Hopetoun Horse Trials and we look forward to welcoming back many of our visitors from last year to enjoy this year's event.

Advance tickets start at just £10 each (£15 on the gate) and children who are under 14 years of age can access the event free of charge if accompanied by an adult who has the relevant admission tickets.  Tickets will be available online from 30th April 2012 or in person from the Hopetoun Farm Shop and Hopetoun House from the end of May.

To enable all our visitors to enjoy the event, please consider the following points:

Clothing

Think practical, and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.  The ground can be soft and is in the main, unsuitable for high heels.  If you intend to visit the vast array of trade stands, or walk the cross country course then sensible footwear is advisable.

Take into account the weather - it is Scotland after all, and although we had a fantastic weekend in 2011, it has been known to be wet and windy.

If you suffer from hay-fever or horse allergies, don't forget to bring your antihistamines or other medications.  Although we have a great team of Medical support on attendance at all times, they would prefer to ensure they are available for any emergency situations that may arise.

Planning Crowds at Hopetoun Horse Trials

Hopetoun attracts a big crowd of spectators.  This will inevitably result in some delays in entering the site at peak times.  We constantly review traffic management, last year we did not experience any major disruption during the event and will be working to ensure that this year is the same.  Please plan your timing so you arrive in good time to see as much of the event as possible.

The gates open at 8.00 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.  The trade stands will open all day giving visitors a great opportunity to shop at leisure.
