The RSABI Hopetoun Cup

Simulated Game Shooting Challenge Sunday June 5th

We are delighted to announce that the RSABI charity clay shoot will this year be held in association with Hopetoun Estate, and becomes the new RSABI Hopetoun Cup, raising funds and awareness for Scotland's agricultural and land-based benevolent fund.

The work of the RSABI

RSABI, formerly known as the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institute, is Scotland's only benevolent fund for the land-based industry. RSABI provides financial and welfare assistance to former farmers, farm workers, gamekeepers, ghillies, rural estate workers and more, when these people are no longer able to work, and are struggling on terribly low incomes. This could be as a result of illness, injury, retirement or other unforeseen circumstance, and leaves many of Scotland's rural workers facing rather desperate times.

The RSABI Hopetoun Cup: Challenging, fun and for a worthy cause

The RSABI Hopetoun Cup will be run for teams of four, and will include a 50 bird sporting event, and a 60 bird flush, shot over a variety of ‘stands' with missed birds counting towards your teams' final score. The team with the fewest misses over the day wins the prestigious Hopetoun cup.

Lots of prizes to be won!

A number of other great prizes will be up for grabs on the day, including the RSABI Members' ‘Top Shot' competition, to win a 2 gun duck flight at Hopetoun Estate.

How to enter

To be entered into the competition and be in with a chance to win this prestigious prize, you must be a supporting member of RSABI. Membership costs just £25/year minimum donation, and is support that the charity truly relies on to help continue this lifeline for our rural workers. If you would like to become a Supporting Member of RSABI, please download and complete the entry form and return to Ashley Baird.

The RSABI Hopetoun Cup is designed to be challenging but most of all fun - competition will be intense but it is the taking part that really counts! In order to ensure that any team has a chance of winning the prizes a handicapping system may be imposed at the discretion of the shoot organisers.

Teams will be split into groups and will rotate around the stands. During the rotation the teams will complete an individual 50 bird sporting layout and a 60 bird team flush.

We will operate a ‘walk back' pool shoot at the end of the day for any guns wishing to take part.

Teams will meet at Hawthornsyke at 9:30am for registration and a safety briefing. The Competition will begin at 10am, with lunch followed by prize giving at approximately 2pm.

We would be delighted if you are able to enter a team (or more than one). All team members must be shotgun certificate holders - please remember to bring your certificates with you. Non shooting guests are more than welcome to come along and watch the fun (lunch at £10 per head).

Teams are asked to provide their own cartridges (fibre wad preferred and no shot size larger than 6). Please note that extra cartridges will be available for purchase on the day if required.

If you wish to enter a team, please dowload and complete the entry form  and return it to Ashley Baird no later than 30th May enclosing a cheque made out to ‘RSABI'.
