Mon 21st April - Easter Egg’stravaganza 10.30am to 12noon

Come along for this traditional workshop that involves egg painting, egg rolling and other eggciting activities.

Don’t forget to bring along a hard-boiled egg or two….

Sun 27th April - Hopetoun Bluebell and spring flowers Walk 2pm to 3.30pm

Join the Ranger on a walk through Hopetoun’s beautiful carpet of bluebells. You will learn all about the natural history of this stunning wild flower.

Cost - Grounds Entrance Charge

Sun 25th May - Pond Dipping 2pm to 3.30pm

A fun, family session where we will visit the Round Pond and go pond dipping. We will learn all about frogs and toads and the other beasties that live in the Hopetoun Pond.

Suitable for Primary school aged children.

Sat 12th July - Hopetoun’s Deer Walk 2pm – 3.30pm

Join the Hopetoun Ranger on walk looking for tracks and signs of the various species of Deer at Hopetoun. We will learn about the natural history of the Red, Roe and Fallow Deer. The walk will include a visit to the Red Deer Park where we will feed the resident stags.

Hopetoun Wildlife Week - Monday 4th – Friday 8th August 2014

A week of fun children's activities in the grounds of Hopetoun led by the Rangers. Activities for 2014 will include den building, orienteering and fire building with a sausage sizzle.

The sessions are suitable for 7-12 year olds running from 10am-1pm.

The cost will be £25 for the full week.

Fri 15th August - Night Hunters! 8pm start (approx 2 hours)

Join us as we explore the grounds at Hopetoun to see which creatures go bump in the night! We will be hunting for bats, owls, badgers, foxes, moths and any other creatures that may also be on the evening prowl. Please bring a torch. Tea and coffee provided.

Sun 28th September - Grounds and Nature Walk 11 – 12.30pm

On the last day of the open season join the Hopetoun Ranger on a nature walk around the beautiful Hopetoun Grounds. The walk will include a visit to the Red Deer Park to see the Roaring Monarch, the Red Stag. This walk is suitable for families.

Sat 18th October - Hopetoun’s Fungi Walk 10.00am to 12pm

Join the Ranger as we learn about mushrooms, toadstools and the various other fungi present in the internationally important lawns and grounds of Hopetoun House. Tea and coffee provided.

Wed 22nd Oct - Hopetoun’s Autumn Walk 10.30am to 12pm

With Hopetoun now closed for the winter season this is an excellent chance to enjoy the grounds in their full autumn splendour. Marvel at the multi coloured woods and keep your eyes peeled for fascinating fungi, hungry squirrels and our normally shy Jays. Our Red Deer will also be rutting and should be in good voice. Tea and coffee provided.

Cost  - Grounds Entrance Charge. Free for 2014 Grounds Season Ticket holders.

Sat 13th December - Christmas Crafts Family Workshop 10.30am to 12pm

Get into the Christmas spirit and go Christmas crackers at Hopetoun! Come along for a day of family fun, making various Christmas decorations.

Materials will be provided, most from the grounds themselves. Mince pies, refreshments and Christmas music will also be provided.

Cost £5 per participant (Includes Grounds Entrance Charge)
