Group Visits to Hopetoun House

We are very pleased to welcome group visits to Hopetoun House. 

During seasonal openingInterior Hopetoun House hours is is best to book in advance to be assured of our best attention.  It is also possible to book private tours all the year round.  Groups are also welcome at the Stables Tearoom without booking a visit to Hopetoun House, but advance booking is recommended.

Current admission charges (2012): Adult £9.20, Concession £8, Groups of 15+ £8, for details please phone 0131 331 2451. For the use of the  Hopetoun House entranceTearoom only, no charge applies

Advance Booking

Advance Booking is not essential but in order to ensure our best attention it is advisable.

On Arrival

Group leaders should pay for the visit in the Shop and Ticket Pavilion in the visitor car park.   Coaches should then disembark at the bottom of the Front Steps, where Hopetoun staff will welcome the group.

Your Visit

Our guides are on hand in the various rooms to help you enjoy your visit by providing information on the House and Family and to answer any questions you may have.  Visitors are free to explore the house at their own pace; allow at least an hour.

Guided Tours

If booked in advance, we try to arrange for a guided tour but this is not always possible.  The maximum number for a guided party should not exceed 20.  An additional £1 per person, with a minimum of £15 will be charged.

The Grounds

The Grounds to the west of the House are amongst the finest areas of parkland in Lothian with delightful woodland walks and magnificient views along and across the Firth of Forth.  A Countryside Ranger is available for assistance.

Disabled Visitors

We warmly welcome all visitors with disabilities and we have a lift in operation so that those with limited mobility can gain entry to the main floor of the House.  We have digital access to the upper floor of the Bruce House.  Many of the trails within the Grounds are accessible by wheelchair.  Groups are advised to book in advance.

Special Interest Tours

This season, Hopetoun House is offering additional attractions, such as special interest tours and drop-in activities in and around the House and Grounds.

Special Private Tours

Private visits can be arranged for groups outside normal opening hours by appointment.

The Tearoom

The tearoom serves delicious snacks, lunches, afternoon and high teas.  Coaches are welcome to use the facility for meals and snacks without entry to Hopetoun House.  Coach Drivers are presented with a complimentary refreshment voucher.
