Ranger Service
When you visit Hopetoun's Grounds, be sure to pay a visit to the Ranger Centre too. Hopetoun is home to an amazing range of wildlife and birdlife and the Centre is the place to find out all about it. Families with children love the displays and exhibitions, with the opportunity to handle fascinating natural items found within the grounds and gardens.

Visitors of all ages enjoy finding out about local species, recent sightings and the best places to view wildlife.Throughout the season there are ranger guided walks which explore the wildlife and natural environment of Hopetoun, as well as aspects of the designed landscape
Nature Trails
There are two delightful nature trails within the grounds: the Spring Garden Trail includes the old bowling green and the main gardens and the Sea Walk Trail, which passes through the Deer Park to Blackness castle and the ruins of Abercorn Castle, with lovely views on the way. There are also two trails designed to delight children of different ages. Before heading off on the nature trails, be sure to pick up the information sheets available in the Ranger Centre.
The Ranger Centre works in partnership with Scottish Natural Heritage, providing an educational resource based on the wildlife and environment at Hopetoun. If you are interested in volunteering with the Hopetoun Green Volunteer Group or becoming a volunteer ranger, do please contact us - we would love to hear from you.
